We must be having fun because the time is flying by. November brings up snowplow safety, Christmas program musical, Christmas Walk ideas for decorating trees and of course Thanksgiving and Veterans Day. In the middle of these things we are hard at work with literacy instruction in our classrooms. We know that the more we can get students into books the better readers they will become. Classrooms are also finishing up with units in Writer’s Workshop. This means that students publish one of their writing pieces and are given the opportunity to read it to others. I would also like to thank all the people who were able to attend Trunk or Treat/Pumpkin decorating on Oct. 28. What a great success. Fabulous trunks and lots of students in costume to collect those treats. Our annual Canned Good drive will begin Nov. 16 and run through Nov. 23. We will be collecting non-perishable food items for the Salvation Army. Our fourth and fifth graders will again collect the items brought in the morning and tally them by class. Announcements will be made nightly by students, announcing who’s classroom is out front. Thank you in advance for you generosity in this time of need for so many of our families.
