Course Description:
BST 1 provides basic computer training and business management principles for all students that are either post-high school education and/or entering the workplace. Units include develop and interpreting tables, charts, and figures to support communication; apply listening skills; information technology applications; employability and career development; communication in business management; problem-solving/critical thinking; and safety in the workforce. Students will use a variety of software in Windows, including Office 2016, which features Word (word processing), Excel (spreadsheet), Access (database), and PowerPoint (presentation slides).

Course Description:
These semester-long courses have no prerequisites required for students new to computer science! Designed for students in grades 9-12, Coding and Computer Science Principles introduces students to the foundational concepts of computer science and challenges them to explore how computing and technology can impact the world. More than a traditional introduction to programming, it is a rigorous, engaging, and approachable course that explores many of the foundational ideas of computing so all students understand how these concepts are transforming the world we live in. This class focuses on concepts such as how the Internet works and the societal impacts of computer science. The course works for beginners and students with experience in other business courses.

Course Description:
Would you like to write a Super Bowl commercial, design a logo for a new product, or create a Multimedia promotional campaign for your favorite company? Marketing I is an introductory class designed for students interested in learning about marketing, advertising, and business. This course enables students to understand and use technology to create marketing activities. Marketing students will study business basics and the functions of marketing and economics. Students will also work in the school store, The Fruitport Marketplace. Students will have the opportunity to become members of our DECA chapter, a vocational student organization designed to develop a student's leadership skills, business knowledge, and community involvement.

Course Description:
Marketing II is a continuation of the Marketing I curriculum. The focus of the course is on the school store specifically on selling, promotion, and customer service. Students will be responsible for working and managing the Fruitport Marketplace School Store and making decisions about pricing, promotions, and product purchases. Students may be eligible for articulation credit at local colleges upon completion of this course. Becoming a DECA member and participation in DECA is highly recommended in this class. Visual and Performing Art Credit (VPAA) will be granted upon completion of this course. Completing the Marketing CTE program will satisfy 1 credit of the required 2 credits of World Languages.

Course Description:
Marketing III is a two-semester course that puts the previous year’s curriculum into action. Students are responsible for ordering merchandise, selecting products to sell, record keeping and managing the Fruitport Marketplace school store. Students enrolled in this course will also create and develop a business plan as part of this course, which may be used for DECA competition. Becoming a DECA member and participating in DECA is expected at this level. Students may be eligible for articulation credit at local colleges upon completion of this course. Visual and Performing Art Credit (VPAA) will be granted upon completion of this course. Completing the Marketing CTE program will satisfy 1 credit of the required 2 credits of World Languages.

Course Description:
Personal Finance and Business Careers is a course that uses real-world situations that allow students the opportunity to gain knowledge in the area of personal finance. These skills learned will be necessary throughout adult life. Topics covered will include earning an income, taxes, investments, bank accounts, budgeting, loans, credit cards, buying a home, planning for college, and buying a car. Additionally, we will explore career paths and work skills for each student. This course will count as a 4th year Math credit for senior students. Students may sign up for one semester or two, earning a half-credit for each.

Course Description: Sports and Entertainment Marketing introduces the student to the marketing and management functions and tasks that can be applied in amateur or professional sports and events, entertainment, selling space or equipment for events, and the hospitality industry.  Students will also have the opportunity to take classroom knowledge and apply it within DECA and BPA.

Course Description:
Web Page Design covers the basics of Web site planning, design, building, and management. It is designed for students who have limited or no experience in creating Web pages, but anyone can take the class. Students will learn the basic elements of web page design, HTML, and working with graphics and animation.  Adobe Dreamweaver, Fireworks, and Flash are used.  Projects include personal and informational web pages.
